Hurler Earl Starr gave the Denver Glaciers a solid start. The native of Baltimore, Maryland helped his team defeat the Washington Senators, 2-1, at Mountain Dew Park. Denver reliever Dave Minarik was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Toby Harrison. The Glaciers now have a mark of 27-21.

A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when right fielder Ray Garcia, who finished 3rd in the EC in triples with 8 in 2079, hit a double. The Glaciers went on to win.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Washington skipper Josh Cooan, "and it cost us."
