Vikings Earn Late Win
|
The Minneapolis Vikings besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Chicago shortstop Ron Jollymour by beating the Phantoms, 4-3, at Foster Field. Jollymour was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Jordan Zuniga claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record stands at 2-0. The Vikings have an impressive 33-15 record.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the eighth, with the game tied, Dante Cuadra was at the plate when Minneapolis scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Vikings to go in front, 4-2.
Cuadra called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
