Aquas Drop Dragons, 2-1
|
Crowds lined up early in front of Tesoro Stadium, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2085 Rising Star League season. On the mound was Yandri Vido for the visiting Portland Dragons and Ricky Zika for the hometown Houston Aquas. In a spirited contest, the Aquas pulled out the win, defeating the Dragons by the score of 2-1. Especially impressive was Yandri Vido.
The Aquas got a big at-bat from third baseman Craig Lightsey. For the game, Lightsey went 1-3 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Houston a 2-1 lead.
"If we keep winning the close games," Lightsey said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
