Seattle Beaten, 4-2, by St. Louis
|
The Gaedels grabbed a win, 4-2, at Veeck Park, overcoming a fine effort from Seattle pitcher Alex Zapien. Zapien went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. The winner in relief was Frank Hubert. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 2-3. The Gaedels sit in last place in the Eastern Conference Muldoom O'Mulmohery Division with a record of 15-32.
Puerto Rico-born Geri Rengifo came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Gaedels trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run single to center to put St. Louis on top.
Rengifo called the win "a collective effort."
