Aces Lasso 4-3 Victory
|
The Las Vegas Aces topped the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 4-3, in Western Conference action at Western Coliseum. The game was highlighted by the performance of Las Vegas pitcher Omezo Suyama. Suyama yielded 2 runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 10. His record improves to 4-1. Picking up his 1st save was two-time All-Star Johnny Wickwire.
Juan Carrizales had a big solo home run for the Aces in the bottom of the first inning. With Las Vegas leading 3-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 32-year old right-handed pitcher Rafael Morales and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Aces on top, 4-0.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Phoenix skipper Joe Busch.
The Aces now own a record of 26-21.
