Thunderbirds Capture 6-3 Win at Western Coliseum
|
The Phoenix Thunderbirds beat the Las Vegas Aces, 6-3, at Western Coliseum. Eddie Lucero was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The 25-year old third baseman was a menace to Las Vegas all day. Carlos Torres picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-2. He struck out 6 in 6 innings. John Intriago collected save number 2.
Lucero contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Phoenix in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Lucero took a fastball from Salomé Sieuve and stroked the home run to right. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Thunderbirds to leap in front, 3-1.
Lucero told the Phoenix Times: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
Phoenix goes to 16-31, Las Vegas to 25-21.
