Senators Tagged with 5-3 Loss
|
The Minneapolis Vikings defeated the Washington Senators, 5-3. Third Baseman Javy Trinidad deserved a large share of the credit. Trinidad was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 times for the Vikings. Frank Macias notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 4-0. Jordan Zuniga was credited with the save for Minneapolis, his 2nd of the season.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, Gentaro Arakawa was at the plate when Minneapolis scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Vikings to go in front, 4-3.
"It's a good day to be a fan after a win like that," Arakawa told the Minneapolis Chronicle.
The Vikings, at 25-21, sit in third place in the Western Conference Najera Division.
