Minneapolis Nets 6-5 Win Versus Phantoms
|
Chicago got a big-time effort from pitcher Craig Kruppenbacher, but it wasn't enough to keep the Minneapolis Vikings from winning the game, 6-5. Kruppenbacher threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. Reliever Torvald Bakker picked up the win. His record improves to 3-0. Andy Miao, who finished 3rd in the WC in saves with 39 in 2082, took the loss. The save went to Zee-loo Kim, his 11th this season.
Minneapolis used the timely hitting of Sam Cone to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Vikings on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This team is real focused right now," said Minneapolis manager Ace Cooan.
Minneapolis, at 32-15, is 3½ games up in the Western Conference Duviel Zaldivar Division.
