|
Maine first baseman Guo-feng Lei had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-4, to Miami at Ballpark of Portland. Lei went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Kazune Kimoto picked up the win in relief. Masato Nishihara took the loss for Maine. Matt Pinette was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.
Kevin Howard chipped in for Miami, stroking a crucial run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning. For the game, the pinch hitter was 1-1.
In postgame remarks, Howard said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
At 19-27, the Cyclones find themselves in last place in the Eastern Conference Paul Pagac Division.
