The Minneapolis Vikings knocked off the Chicago Phantoms, 6-2, in Western Conference action at Foster Field. Minneapolis pitcher and Sayreville, New Jersey, native Josh Hawes had an outstanding performance. The Western Conference Duviel Zaldivar Division-leading Vikings are 31-15.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Sam Cone? The Minneapolis shortstop had a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Vikings on top, 3-2. For the game, Cone had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Minneapolis manager Ace Cooan.
