Metropolitanos Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
|
Havana Metropolitanos starter Benito Cossutta turned in a sparkling performance against the Montreal Harfangs, leading his team to a 1-0 win. Cossutta, now 1-3, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Havana is now 18-28, Montreal 11-34.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Metropolitanos had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when second baseman Heriberto Lopez hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Arthur Gordon and made the score 1-0, Metropolitanos. Lopez was 1-3.
