Aces Spill Thunderbirds, 5-3
|
The Las Vegas Aces stopped the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 5-3, behind an impressive performance from Manichiro Kawasaki. The 26-year old third baseman made life miserable for Phoenix pitching. He went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Las Vegas reliever Dryden Ice picked up the win, raising his record to 1-1. Jay Barrientos was tagged with the loss. J.P. McNealy collected save number 9.
Las Vegas took control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Chris Zamarron hit a run-scoring single to make it 4-3, Aces.
"I'm a bit of a clubhouse prankster," said Kawasaki. "But it's all business when we're on the field."
Las Vegas, at 25-20, holds down second place in the Western Conference Michael Fridy Division.
