Titans Win, Downing Vikings, 7-4
|
The New York Titans topped the Minneapolis Vikings, 7-4, in Eastern Conference action at Polo Grounds II. The standout performance belonged to New York pitcher and Nagoya, Japan, native Keiyo Nagao. New York is third in the Eastern Conference Kamuzu Division with a record of 21-23.
Ryan Mellon had a big bases-clearing double for the Titans in the bottom of the third inning. With New York leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Juan Pinon, who is tied for 3rd in the WC in wins with 5, and swatted a double to right. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Titans ahead, 4-0.
"Keiyo's as tough as he is talented," said New York manager Nate Beckman.
