The ESPN Zone was host to some intense drama.

Portland wasted a solid 7.2-inning effort from starting pitcher Lenny Stack, losing to Washington, 1-0, at The ESPN Zone. Julio Mendoza, who finished 3rd in the EC in saves with 33 last year, was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-3. The losing pitcher was Alberto Rosario.

Washington got a knockout punch from Kiyomi Yoshimura. The first baseman hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

Yoshimura described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.

The loss makes Portland 21-23.
