Spectres Shut Out Metropolitanos, 1-0
|
Sony Field at Philadelphia was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
Philadelphia right-hander Chae-pong Kim helped his team edge Havana by the score of 1-0. Kim kept the opposing lineup in check. The winner was Steve Jennifer in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Andino D'Elia took the loss. Divino Aljeroz earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game.
Had Ron Gideon not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Gideon hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Spectres.
"I felt good. I felt like I was locating the ball well and I was able to keep them off-balance," said Kim.
With the win, Philadelphia boosts its record to 4-1.
