Thunderbirds Beat Aquas, 6-2
|
The Phoenix Thunderbirds picked up a win at Tesoro Stadium, downing the Houston Aquas, 6-2. On the mound for Phoenix was right-hander Earl Starr, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winner was Starr. He threw 6.2 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was James Wilkinson. The third-place Thunderbirds are now 23-18, the Aquas 12-29.
Phoenix took a 6-2 lead on Jose Olmos's 4th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Olmos hit in the top of the eighth, left Houston pitcher Victor Romero visibly frustrated.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Phoenix skipper Joe Busch.
