Aquas Pick Up 7-2 Win
|
The Houston Aquas took on the Vancouver Wolves at Tesoro Stadium.
The Houston Aquas topped the Vancouver Wolves, 7-2, with youngster Ileanna Alfaro playing a key role. Alfaro went 2-3 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Aquas in the win. Ron Gelsomino, the winner, improved to 9-7. He held the Wolves to 1 run on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 3.
Francisco Guerra had a big 2-run double for the Aquas in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Houston leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a splitter from Yadisniel Saez, who finished 2nd in the WC in wins with 16 in 2083, and swatted a double to right. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Aquas ahead, 3-0.
"We didn't play well enough to win," said Vancouver skipper Zach Meinen.
With the win, the Aquas improved to 65-85.
