The Denver Glaciers wanted a good start from Earl Starr -- and he delivered one. The result was a 4-2 Denver win over the Maine Lobster at Ballpark of Portland. Starr got the win, improving to 8-13. He gave up 5 hits and walked 0 over 8.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Jorge Diaz notched his 6th save in 8 chances.
Denver won the game in part because of Chris Eighmy. The first baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Glaciers ahead, 4-0. For the game, Eighmy had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
Said Denver manager Todd Bleess: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
The 4th-place Glaciers now sit at 68-81.
