The bats were silent much of the day at Tundradome. But 30-year old third baseman Matthew Allen produced just enough offense to carry the Destroyers past the Alaska Kodiaks, 3-0. Allen went 3 for 3 with a double and 2 singles. The third-place Destroyers have a record of 75-73.

Al Lindberg, who is tied for 5th in the WC with a .401 on-base percentage, had a direct impact on the outcome. Lindberg contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put San Diego up, 3-0.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said San Diego manager Steve Alstadt.
