Arrows Fall, 7-6, to Santiago
The Santiago Avispas defeated the Seattle Arrows, 7-6. Center Fielder Daichi Sakai deserved a large share of the credit. Sakai belted 2 home runs for the Avispas. Salvador Romero, who is tied for 5th in the EC in strikeouts with 50, was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. The first-place Avispas now sit at 27-12.

Santiago used a well-timed hit by Yem Batista to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Avispas ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"The key is not trying to do too much," said Sakai.
