Mellon Clouts 2 Homers in 7-4 New York Win
|
Ryan Mellon led New York to a win over Washington. The final score was 7-4. The first baseman had a huge performance. He whacked 3 extra-base hits, including 2 home runs and 1 double. Gil Eckenroth, the winning pitcher, improved to 9-6. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and no runs, while striking out 4 and walking 0. Wade Belk picked up the save for New York, his 7th of the year.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Mellon hit a 2-run home run off Pablo Alvarez. It propelled the Titans into the lead, 2-0.
"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Mellon told the New York Today.
New York is 74-70 and Washington, with the loss, 74-71.
