Rangers Slap 5-1 Loss on Juggernauts
|
The performance of Cole Hickey proved critical in helping Buffalo beat Toronto, 5-1. The Rangers first baseman went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3. Jose Nereida got the win, improving to 11-7. He held the Juggernauts to 1 run on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Ricardo Alas was credited with the save, his 7th in 7 tries.
Buffalo used the clutch hitting of Charlie Cole to snag the win. The right fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
Buffalo manager Alex Beckman called it "a good, solid win."
Buffalo has run its win streak to 4 in a row.
