Rangers Bag 2-1 Win
|
The Buffalo Rangers eked out a 2-1 win versus the Maine Lobster at Bison Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Alcides Zaldivar. He was terrific. Zaldivar, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks. Lupe Sandoval, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.
The Rangers got a big at-bat from first baseman Cole Hickey. For the game, Hickey was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Buffalo a 2-0 lead.
"I do my best to contribute," said Hickey.
Buffalo, now 4-1, is setting the league on fire so far.
