The Portland Dragons got a magnificent performance from pitcher Damian Mares, who muffled the Denver offense en route to a tight, 3-0 Dragons win at Mountain Dew Park. Portland now owns a record of 82-57.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Yahya Kanoro came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Denver pitcher Ning-qing Tsai, he hit a 2-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Portland on top, 1-0.

"Damian's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Portland manager Greg Carpenter.
