Joe Gwin, who is the 3rd-best prospect in the Thunderbirds organization, was locked in. The right-hander led the Phoenix Thunderbirds to a 6-4 win against the Minneapolis Vikings at Minneapolis Grounds. Ko Morita, now 5-2, was credited with the win in 2.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Phoenix is now 70-69, while Minneapolis is 82-57.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Rafael Vasco came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Minneapolis pitcher Zee-loo Kim, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Phoenix on top, 5-4.

"I felt like I had pretty good command of mostly everything," said Gwin.
