Floundering Cyclones Lose 6th Straight
|
The Miami Cyclones could not turn a fine performance from designated hitter Ed Rice into a win. Instead, the Montreal Harfangs prevailed, 8-7. Rice went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The Harfangs, now 76-61, have won 4 in a row.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Tommy Bomba came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Miami pitcher Robert Rosas, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Montreal on top, 8-7.
"I like seeing our guys get a return on what they've put in," said Montreal manager Brendan Henry.
