In a tight contest at Legednary Park, the Los Angeles Stars edged the Phoenix Thunderbirds by the score of 6-5. Los Angeles catcher Whip Lund, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Picking up his 26th save was former first round draft pick Raiko Leon. The Stars have now won 9 straight.

Jeremy Chickering went 2 for 3 with 2 singles for Los Angeles. The 23-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Zhi-jan Law. It was his 13th RBI of the season.
