San Francisco Sunk by Minneapolis, 3-1
|
The Minneapolis Vikings used a great performance from Juan Pinon, who is tied for 3rd in the WC in wins with 5, to beat the San Francisco Friars, 3-1, at Staples Field. The winner was Pinon. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Jose Andrades. Zee-loo Kim locked down his 8th save.
Minneapolis used a clutch at-bat from Marvin Jackson to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Vikings ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"My gosh almighty, Juan was tremendous," said Minneapolis manager Ace Cooan.
With the victory, the Vikings record stands at 23-16.
