The Alaska Kodiaks had to overcome a fine effort from Miami pitcher Jose Madrid to win, 5-4, at Tundradome. Madrid went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Jeff Amendola, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. David Klontz locked down his 3rd save.

Had Andre Casson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Casson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Kodiaks.

"Both teams played hard," said Alaska manager Alex King.
