The Houston Aquas knocked off the San Francisco Friars, 5-2, in Western Conference action at Tesoro Stadium. Houston pitcher and Washington, District of Columbia, native Slider Brooks had an outstanding performance. Sergio Vega earned his 3rd save in 6 chances. Houston is now 58-74.
An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the fifth. That's when Aquas third baseman Craig Lightsey hit a fastball from Heriberto Flores for a 2-run single. Just like that, Houston was up, 3-2.
"I just tried to focus on getting that first guy out every inning," said Brooks.
