Roberto Rueda, who finished 5th in the WC in wins with 15 last year, was locked in. The left-hander led the Kansas City Athletics to a 5-3 win against the Alaska Kodiaks at Tundradome. Rueda picked up the win for Kansas City, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 8-11. Trevor Augustine earned the save, his 1st.
In the top of the fourth, Kansas City designated hitter Casey Marko had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Marko stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 4-0, Kansas City. For the game, he was 1-4 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Marko.
