In a tension-filled contest between the Los Angeles Stars and the Seattle Arrows, pitcher Roberto Davila was superb. The Los Angeles right-hander, who is tied for 8th in the WC with a 9.2 K/9 rate, spearheaded his team's 2-1 win. Cody Goings, credited with the win in relief, is now 4-3. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 0.2 innings. Luis Castillo notched his 2nd save in 4 chances.

Julian Paul had a direct impact on the outcome. Paul contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Los Angeles up, 2-1.

"The clubhouse can get insufferable after we lose, so I'm glad we pulled this one out today," Paul told the Los Angeles Gazette.
