Boston Claims 6-3 Victory
|
Boston starter Shaun Chugh pitched well against the Havana Metropolitanos at Arrington Park. The left-hander led his team to a win, 6-3. The winner was Chugh. He threw 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball. The loser was Buddy Verveer. John Colon sewed up the save, his 1st.
Nelson Garcia had a big 2-run double for the Greens in the bottom of the first inning. With Boston leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Buddy Verveer, who finished 2nd in the EC in wins with 17 last year, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 18th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Greens ahead, 4-1.
Chugh called the win "a collective effort."
With the win, the Greens improved to 68-60.
