Miami got a terrific game from first baseman Chris Hodges. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Maine, 5-4. Hodges went 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. Armando Montoya, now 2-2, was credited with the win in 0.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. Adam Mimnaugh earned the save, his 10th.

Bloemfontein, South Africa-born Bert James came through in the clutch. In the top of the ninth, with the bases loaded and the Lobster trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to right to put Maine on top.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Maine manager Matthew McExpos.

The setback makes Miami 50-77.
