Getting an impressive start from Luis Espiricueta, St. Louis beat Havana by the score of 6-1. The last-place Gaedels own a record of 12-27.
Had Carlos Bernal not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Bernal hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Gaedels.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said St. Louis skipper Mak Dolnick.
