Gaedels Roast Dragons, 11-2
|
The St. Louis Gaedels had no problem beating the Portland Dragons, 11-2, at Veeck Park. Hunter Begley led the onslaught. He went 2-4 with a double and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for St. Louis. Andres Anguiano got credit for the win, improving to 4-9. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 6.1 innings. St. Louis is now 51-73.
With St. Louis leading 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Begley hit a 2-run single off Portland hurler Jimmy Witmer. It was the 67th hit of the season for Begley and put his team ahead, 5-2.
"We can't expect to win," said Portland manager Greg Carpenter, "when we play like that."
