The San Francisco Friars topped the Kansas City Athletics, 4-2, in Western Conference action at Staples Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of San Francisco pitcher George Roscoe. San Francisco's record now stands at 55-69, placing them last in the Western Conference Michael Fridy Division.
San Francisco took control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Rod Inzunza hit a run-scoring single to make it 3-2, Friars.
"I thought we played some darn good baseball," said Friars manager Erich Weatherholt.
