Phantoms Trip Thunderbirds, 1-0
|
The Chicago Phantoms claimed a close win over the Phoenix Thunderbirds, due in large part to Vito Pels. The Chicago left-hander pitched a great game to secure the 1-0 win. Pels picked up the win for Chicago, going 6 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 2-4. Johnny Wickwire got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
Lan-quing Qiu helped his team take an early lead with a run-scoring single. It came in the first inning, making the score 1-0, Phantoms.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Pels.
The first-place Phantoms, at 76-48, lead the Western Conference Michael Fridy Division by 6½ games.
