Rangers Tag Harfangs with 6-3 Loss
|
The Buffalo Rangers beat the Montreal Harfangs, 6-3. Buffalo pitcher and Cumanayagua, Cuba, native Alcides Zaldivar led the way. Zaldivar, the winner, moves to 7-7. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 4 walks. Lupe Sandoval, who is tied for 6th in the EC in saves with 14, nailed down the save.
The Harfangs had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Rangers going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 11-year veteran Matty Hrinko came to the plate. Hrinko hit a run-scoring double on a 2-2 fastball from Montreal hurler Wil Campos. It was Hrinko's 26th double of the year.
"Alcides is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said Buffalo manager Alex Beckman.
Buffalo's record now stands at 70-51, placing them second in the Eastern Conference Goff Division.
