Beat Goes On for Dragons, Win 8-6 Over Vikings
|
The Portland Dragons overcame a pretty good performance by Minneapolis first baseman Carlos Dorame, beating the Vikings, 8-6, at Minneapolis Grounds. Dorame went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs. The Dragons move to 71-51 with the win, while the Vikings drop to 72-51.
Portland used a timely hit from Hideji Yamanaka to get the win. The right fielder stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Dragons ahead, 8-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"This team is real focused right now," said Portland manager Greg Carpenter.
