Havana Topples Brooklyn, 3-2

The Havana Metropolitanos earned a close win over the Brooklyn Browns, thanks in part to Alex Zapien. The Havana right-hander played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Avery Slade was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities. The 4th-place Metropolitanos hiked their record to 58-62.
David Higby went 1-1 with a double and was hit by a pitch for Havana. The 28-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Michel Verde. It was his 27th RBI of the season.
"Alex is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Havana manager Kevin Mayerhofer.
