D.J. Trigg had a big hand in the 19-7 Kansas City triumph over Las Vegas. He rattled off 4 hits in 5 at-bats, scoring 3 times and knocking in 3 runs. At 66-56, the Athletics find themselves in second place in the Western Conference Duviel Zaldivar Division.

Jerry Gomez had a big 2-run double for the Athletics in the top of the first inning. With Kansas City leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Salomé Sieuve, who is tied for 5th in the WC in quality starts with 15, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 30th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Athletics ahead, 5-0.

"Whenever I help the team," said Gomez, "it sort of justifies my place on the roster."
