Kansas City got a decent performance from pitcher Roberto Rueda, but it wasn't enough to beat the San Diego Destroyers. San Diego won the Ballpark of Missouri contest, 6-3. Rueda threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Cruz Ponce earned the save for San Diego, his 2nd of the year. San Diego, at 65-57, occupies third place in the Western Conference Eddie Izurieta Division.

Ju-ho Cheon came through with a big-time hit for San Diego. The designated hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

Cheon called the win "a team effort."
