Starting pitcher Taisei Yamamoto pitched well enough to help the Alaska Kodiaks beat the Los Angeles Stars, 6-3. J.D. Haynes, now 5-3, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Picking up the save was 37-year old right-handed pitcher Antonio Melgar.

T.J. Gourley went 1-3 with a triple and a walk for Alaska. The 26-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Cody Goings. It was his 1st walk of the season.

Yamamoto told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.

The first-place Kodiaks lifted their record to 79-42.
