Rangers Need Extra Innings to Top Gaedels, 4-1
The Buffalo Rangers picked up a win at Veeck Park, taking down the St. Louis Gaedels, 4-1, in 10 innings. On the mound for Buffalo was right-hander Jose Ruiz. He played a central role in the triumph. The winner in relief was Carlos Palafox. He is now 10-3. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. The first-place Rangers hiked their record to 72-47.

Buffalo used the timely hitting of Tim McCarthy to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Rangers on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

In postgame comments, McCarthy said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
