Destroyers RF Lindberg goes 4-for-4 in Win
|
The San Diego Destroyers defeated the Kansas City Athletics, 8-2, at Ballpark of Missouri. Al Lindberg, who finished 3rd in the EC in on-base percentage with .407 in 2076, was a standout performer for San Diego. His 4 hits included 3 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 4 he knocked in. Tony Anaya, the winner, improved to 6-7. He held Kansas City to 1 run on 4 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. The Destroyers are now 44-75.
With San Diego leading 3-0 in the top of the second, Lindberg hit a 2-run single off Kansas City hurler Al Joly. It was the 37th hit of the season for Lindberg and put his team ahead, 5-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said San Diego manager Steve Alstadt.
