Minneapolis Upended by Las Vegas, 3-0
|
Las Vegas pitcher Yolber Ajete had a large part in his team beating the Minneapolis Vikings, 3-0. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Ajete got the win, improving to 12-9. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2 over 5.2 innings. He allowed no runs. Cruz Ponce converted his 25th save in 27 tries.
Chris Horn had a big solo home run for the Aces in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Las Vegas leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a sinker from Benjamin Jones, who leads the WC in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 16th home run of the season, which put the Aces on top, 2-0.
Ajete said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
The defeat makes Minneapolis 56-63.
