The Phoenix Thunderbirds downed the Alaska Kodiaks, 5-2, at Legednary Park. The Thunderbirds were led by Vic Sanchez. Sanchez was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ko Morita claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. His record stands at 1-0. Sanchez had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-2 splitter from Alcides Zaldivar, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Thunderbirds a 4-2 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Sanchez.

"We're producers not directors," said Sanchez. "Produce a good swing. Can't direct where it goes."
