Morita Leads Athletics to 7-4 Win Over Destroyers
|
The bat of Hisatoshi Morita helped the Kansas City Athletics top the San Diego Destroyers, 7-4. Morita went 4 for 5 with a home run and 2 triples, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for Kansas City. Roberto Rueda picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 10-5. Chase Kessler nailed down his 20th save.
With Kansas City leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Morita hit a slider from Juzo Matsumoto for a 2-run triple. It was his 5th triple of the season and put the Athletics ahead, 3-0.
"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Kansas City manager Joe Monagle.
The third-place Athletics improved to 63-55.
