Phantoms Rebuff Stars, 7-5
Ramão Bizarro had a good game, but he could not keep the Los Angeles Stars from falling, 7-5, to the Chicago Phantoms at Foster Field. The Los Angeles center fielder went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice in the loss. Reliever Teh-huai Yap picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Ewan Williams took the loss. Chicago, at 61-56, sits in third place in the Western Conference Eastin Division.

The Stars had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Phantoms going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 2079 Rookie of the Year Award winner Matt Salmon came to the plate. Salmon hit a run-scoring double on a full count sinker from Los Angeles hurler Danny Serrano. It was Salmon's 23rd double of the year.

"I always go out there hoping to contribute," said Salmon.
