The Phoenix Thunderbirds topped the San Diego Destroyers, 4-0, in Western Conference action at Legednary Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Phoenix pitcher Carlos Torres. With the win over San Diego, the Thunderbirds improved to 43-74.

Torres picked up the win. He's now 8-9, after putting the San Diego offense in the deep freeze. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed no earned runs on 3 hits.

"When I go out there," said Torres, "the last thing I want to do is let my teammates down."
